As some people know today is the day Steve Irwin died
(September 4th 2006) This a poem in remembrance of him. I did not write it and I forget who did, but it came from the ABC online guestbook for Steve.
Crocodile Tears
Their is Monty the croc
Still lethargic today
Winters cold on his rock
It’s not the season to play
As he goes to his marker
Amongst sadness and cheers
This keen mover and shaker
Leaves just crocodile tears.
Steve Irwin-Crocodile Hunter
Oh, what a larkin he was,
Half boy the other half unicorn
His sunburnt smilin face
His wardrobe khaki regulation
And smiling eyes that asked
Unwritten qustions of each bird
And snake and of all crocodiles
Demanding awnsers from their souls
And speaking words of unknown depth
All just for the pleasure of their company
And when I shook your hand that day
We talked awhile then you turned
You had a date of true signifacance
just waiting for you in another world.
